Dorset House is a Bed and Breakfast overlooking the sea in Lyme Regis.
We’re lucky enough to call this beautiful Georgian building home – and we like you to feel that it’s your home from home while you’re here.
We win awards because we care.
We love to create new breakfast dishes with the abundent local produce. We’re passionate about our beautiful part of the country and can’t imagine living anywhere else – sharing how special Lyme Regis is with guests is the best part of our job. Walking and swimming the coastline are encouraged – muddy boots and sandy toes are very welcome. Fresh air beats technology in our book but you can curl up with a film of course.
But mostly we care about ensuring that you have an amazing, relaxing stay.
The real highlight though is the amazing 4 course breakfast option, which delivers perfectly on taste, choice and nutritional value. You will struggle to find a better breakfast anywhere.
Lyme Regis is also great to explore with beaches, walks and restaurants!
It will not disappoint!!
This was our 4th visit and we are already booked for next year. The building has been beautifully restored , it’s so cosy and comfortable.
The bedrooms again have been beautifully decorated, the beds are very comfy and you always get an excellent night’s sleep
The minute you’re greeted at the door you feel yourself relax. Everything is calm & well thought out. The delicious aromas of home baking; the beautiful breakfasts, the cosy comfy beds & all the useful advice about local walks, restaurants & things to do we really appreciated. We also felt reassured by all the extra efforts to keep us safe in the current situation. Lyme Regis & Dorset House are a wonderful place to visit. Full of fresh air & fun!

We are often asked for our granola recipe and we’d love to hear from those of you that have made this at home too. The recipe can be used as a base to adjust to your taste – eg use hazlenuts if you prefer them to almonds – just keep the proportions the same and you should get a delicious crisp granola.
We love living in Lyme Regis and eating out is our favourite hobby so we thought it worthwhile to share our top spots to eat out in Lyme Regis with you.
There are so many activities to keep you occupied in Lyme Regis. If you are lucky enough to have more than a few days to spare, then there are plenty of glorious sites to visit across Dorset – here are our top recommendations on where to visit.
Sourdough Crepes Recipe To be honest, Pancake Day is far more of an event than Valentine’s Day in our house (we’re outnumbered by kids after all!) so here’s my new favourite recipe. If, like us, you’ve been busy baking sourdough over lockdown, you’ll be familiar with...
Dorset House in Lyme Regis has just been named ‘Best Bed and Breakfast’ in the Dorset Tourism Awards for the fourth time. The award ceremony, in keeping with the times, was held over Zoom with virtual networking events held ahead of the ceremony to allow entrants to...
As many people discovered last summer, a UK B&B holiday can be an amazing experience. Once we’ve mentally detached ourselves from the image of baking in the sunshine (although to be fair we did also manage that last summer!), the landscape, culture and variety of activities available to us in the UK make for a great holiday. And all with the added benefit of avoiding environmentally damaging air travel and supporting our local economies.
We are blessed with an area that encourages life in the great outdoors, and what better way to enjoy that than walking? Lyme Regis sits within the UK’s only Natural World Heritage Site, The Jurassic Coast. We have fabulous countryside for walking in Lyme Regis – here are a few of our favourites.
We’re so lucky to have stunning coastline as far as the eyes can see – and there are plenty of opportunities to make the most of the sea. Here are our favourite things to do on the water.
We’re lucky to have a thriving high street in Lyme Regis and one of the consequences of lockdown has been for many of us to appreciate the job that our local shops do for us. Yes, the prices may be slightly higher, but that’s because these guys pay their taxes which ultimately comes back around. And the products and service are so much more individual in nature than the big stores.
With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of where we do our shopping. Hopefully it will inspire you to explore our local high street while you’re here.
We're overjoyed at Dorset House to find out that we've been awarded this prestigious award by the AA. Our behind the scenes video gives you the inside story..
