Wellness and yoga breaks on the glorious Jurassic Coast
We understand that life is hectic and that it’s very difficult to find time to nurture yourself so created Dorset House as a haven from the world where relaxation and wellness come first. We’re now taking this further still with our wellness and yoga breaks – a chance for you to escape from the world, focus on creating healthy habits and relax deeply in the company of like-minded people.
Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. We will focus on yoga and meditation with morning and evening practice. Workshops will focus on creating healthy dishes that inspire you to supercharge your eating habits. The countryside around Lyme Regis is stunning and inspiring so we will lead a clifftop walk.
For those that fancy it, we lead sunrise sea swims or runs (or you could benefit from a lie in if you prefer)
We believe that treating yourself well is important. Our award winning accommodation offers luxurious bedding and stylish surroundings. Food is locally sourced and lovingly home prepared with an eye on positive health. And an evening drink from the Honesty Bar in front of the fire is a great way to round off your day.

What to Expect - Yoga
Sam’s positive and joyous classes are aimed at pupils of all levels. With the emphasis placed firmly on the individual, the aim is always to work towards being the best version of yourself, with adjustments to each sequence to best help your progression.
Our classes take place in the elegant drawing room of Dorset House where sun streams through the French doors, and the log burner keeps us cosy should we need it.
Class size is limited to a maximum of 10 to ensure plenty of attention for each participant.
Sam’s early morning yoga class is the perfect start to the day. We will wake up the mind, body and spirit with a mindful, heart felt session, practicing flowing energizing postures, linked in with the rhythm of the breath to build strength, increase flexibility and create harmony. We will practice breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation.
Sam’s evening class is restorative and meditative, allowing time to deeply stretch, relax and unwind. Our evening meditation will give us space to reflect on our day with peace and gratitude.
Mats, blankets and equipment are provided. Wear something comfortable and stretchy.
What to expect - Outdoors
We are firm believers in the benefits of getting outdoors at Dorset House. Lyn swims in our beautiful sea each morning and Jason teaches tennis in all weathers.
The sense of grounding and calming that comes with a walk in the countryside is well documented - even more so when you add in sea views. We will aim to walk along the cliff tops to Golden Cap - the highest point on the South Coast and then depending on the weather either picnic or pub lunch so bring sturdy shoes and a raincoat.
For those that fancy the thrill of a morning dip, bring swimming cossies and towels.
Treatments during your stay
We are lucky enough to have suppliers of high quality, personalised treatments that come to Dorset House to work their magic. Be it a de-stressing massage, a mani-pedi or lash extensions we've got it covered. To learn more, click here to read our blog post on beauty treatments at Dorset House
What to Expect - Happy Hormones
As an experienced chef, Emma is happiest in the kitchen showing us how to improve our health rather than just talking about it. Workshops will take place in the large kitchen at Dorset House where Emma can demonstrate how to put the best ingredients together to create tasty meals that work to balance our hormones for increased energy and wellbeing.
Our small, informal groups mean that there are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and of course we will sit down and eat the delicious meals that Emma creates.
Yoga and Meditation Instructor
British Wheel Of Yoga Teacher Sam Neal teaches popular daily yoga classes in Dorset and East Devon. Sam also teaches Thai Yoga, Meditation and she is a qualified fitness instructor with many years of experience.
Named by the Observer Food Magazine as one of the most interesting people in food last year, Tiffany Jesse was named the ‘Queen of Fermentation’. She began her lifelong love affair with fermenting when she realised the profound effect it had on her troublesome psoriasis as well as the wider wellbeing effects of being mindful of nurturing a healthy gut.
Chef and Nutritionist
Emma uses evidence-based nutrition advice, constantly learning through professional education and research. With over 20 years cooking and nutrition experience across the globe, she combines a scientific approach with a real understanding of food. You can expect meals that are easy to prepare, taste fantastic and are rich with nutritional benefit!
Emma is the author of The Happy Hormone Cookbook and The Bone Broth Bible
For an additional fee, we can arrange individual appointments with Emma to devise a personalised nutrition plan.
Stayed here last week for wellness break. Everything about the stay was amazing. Beautiful rooms, incredible food. Loved the yoga, fermenting class and bullet journaling. I can not recommend this break highly enough. Truly superb. The hosts are wonderful and the atmosphere is so calm and comfortable. We felt we were staying with friendsGracehortense
Lyn and Jason were fantastic hosts. They have thought of everything and nothing was too much trouble. They have just started offering wellness breaks and it was the perfect combination of yoga, meditation, educational sessions and relaxation. I’d highly recommend Dorset House.
