Wellness and yoga breaks on the glorious Jurassic Coast


We understand that life is hectic and that it’s very difficult to find time to nurture yourself so created Dorset House as a haven from the world where relaxation and wellness come first.

We’re now taking this further still with our wellness and yoga breaks – a chance for you to escape from the world, focus on creating healthy habits and relax deeply in the company of like-minded people.

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. We will focus on yoga and meditation with morning and evening practice. A workshop on gut health and fermenting will inspire you to supercharge your eating habits and Bullet Journaling will help you organise your creative energies and workload – freeing up your mind for increased fulfilment. The countryside around Lyme Regis is inspiring so we will lead a clifftop walk and a morning mindful walk.

For those that fancy it, we lead sunrise sea swims or runs (or you could benefit from a lie in if you prefer)

We believe that treating yourself well is important. Our award winning accommodation offers luxurious bedding and stylish surroundings. Food is locally sourced and lovingly home prepared with an eye on positive health.  And an evening drink from the Honesty Bar in front of the fire is a great way to round off your day.

About the Yoga Classes

Sam’s positive and joyous classes are aimed at pupils of all levels. With the emphasis placed firmly on the individual, the aim is always to work towards being the best version of yourself, with adjustments to each sequence to best help your progression.

 Our classes take place in the elegant drawing room of Dorset House where sun streams through the French doors, and the log burner keeps us cosy should we need it.

Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 to ensure plenty of attention for each participant.

Sam’s early morning yoga class is the perfect start to the day. We will wake up the mind, body and spirit with a mindful, heart felt session, practicing flowing energizing postures, linked in with the rhythm of the breath to build strength, increase flexibility and create harmony. We will practice breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation.

Sam’s evening class is restorative and meditative, allowing time to deeply stretch, relax and unwind. Our evening meditation will give us space to reflect on our day with peace and gratitude.

Mats, blankets and equipment are provided. Wear something comfortable and stretchy.

About the Fermenting Workshop

The is workshop is aimed at those wanting to learn how to support your gut health with simple techniques that take away the fear and confusion surrounding fermented food. You will discover how easy it is to have healthy probiotic food as part of your daily life.

The workshop will include how to make Kombutcha and Jun with first and second fermentation, ideas for cocktails and flavour combinations and a demonstration on how to make Kefir.

There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions  and you will take home a Kombutcha or Jun Scobie starter and Kefir grains.

About the Bullet Journal Workshop

Billed as an analogue system for a digital age, Bullet Journalling allows you to keep all of your musings, drawings, to do lists and creative ideas together in a way that allows you to find them quickly and easily.

We will work through the system and then get creative. Practice sheets will allow you to practice a few ideas before setting up your journal.

Feeling in control of your life when the workload is overwhelming is a small step towards better mental health and wellness – we aim to give you as many tips and tricks as we can to help you on your way.

Practice sheets and pens will be provided and you will be given your own Leuchttern journal to set up take away with you.

British Wheel Of Yoga Teacher Sam Neal teaches popular daily yoga classes in Dorset and East Devon. Sam also teaches Thai Yoga, Meditation and she is a qualified fitness instructor with many years of experience.

Named by the Observer Food Magazine as one of the most interesting people in food last year, Tiffany Jesse was named the ‘Queen of Fermentation’. She began her lifelong love affair with fermenting when she realised the profound effect it had on her troublesome psoriasis as well as the wider wellbeing effects of being mindful of nurturing a healthy gut.

Author and Creative Writing Teacher

Janis has a MA in Creative Writing. Her fiction has been widely published. She was longlisted for the 2016 Bath Short Story Award. She lives in Lyme Regis with her family and can be found procrastinating and writing (in that order) in her stationery shop, The Writing Room, which has wonky walls.

Following a successful career in journalism, Jan set up her own company to edit and publish trade magazine titles. Since living in Lyme Jan has published a children’s picture book and has run children’s activities at various venues including the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival and Manchester Children’s Book Festival. She also runs creative writing workshops for adults and children with poet and author Phil Whitehead, through their company INVIGORWRITE.

Stayed here last week for wellness break. Everything about the stay was amazing. Beautiful rooms, incredible food. Loved the yoga, fermenting class and bullet journaling.
