One of the most interesting food venues in the area is High Grange Devon where Sara and Luke have created a haven of wonderful food, appreciation of nature and a centre that combines wellbeing with community.
There are many events planned over the summer from Casual Feast nights to Cookery School and Retreat days. Find out more about our favourite events below:
May Events at High Grange
Fire Supper - Wednesday 10th May 7-11pm
This Wednesday evening (which promises to be sunny!) its outside for an informal supper of fire pit snacks, chicken wings, and Luke’s legendary cheese burgers. There are lots of videos on instagram if you’d like to take a look.
Feast Night - Cocktail & Seasonal 5 Course Tasting Menu - Friday 12th May 7-11pm
There are only a couple of spaces left at this Friday’s feast night! We’re keeping the menu up our sleeves for now but there will be cocktails and canapés, Spring greens, wild garlic and asparagus, fish from the Lyme Bay, organic local meat, and the most amazing pud.
The Fine Art Of Resting with Rebecca Baker - Friday 19th May 10-11.30am
Over on the wellbeing side, you can see Sara’s Instagram Live chat with Rebecca on why we aren’t resting enough, what blocks we have to rest and how we can find rest to restore our nervous systems in our daily lives, As Rebecca says in our chat, this issue is wider than simply rest, but touches on everything from the pandemic of isolation and loneliness in society and why we crave our phones for connection, to the emphasis on productivity and performance.
Half Day Fire School - The Perfect Steak - Friday 19th May 10am-2pm
A repeat of Luke's brilliant steak masterclass on 19th May - have a look at H G instagram for photos of the last session. You will try flat iron, bone-in sirloin, rib on the bone and the most extraordinary rump steak, with tons of different techniques, and sides, as well as plenty of time to chat and ask questions, finishing with a sit down feast.
Full Day Fire School - The Full Gamut of British Outdoor Cooking - Saturday 20th May 10am-5pm
This is High Grange's full day Fire School going through all the different aspects of outdoor cooking - in fire pits and all manner of barbecues, from veggies to fish, meat to sides, they’ll cover everything and give you a full day of cooking and eating in the woodland. You’ll go home with a brilliant goody bag too.
Full Day Fire School - Cooking on the Big Green Egg - Tuesday 30th May 10am to 5pm
This is a one-off specific course for Big Green EGG (or other ceramic barbecue) users. You’ll spend a little time on loading, lighting and charcoal for beginners and then run through all of the techniques and modes from roasting and grilling to smoking and slow cooking and everything in-between. Whether you’re a novice or expert you will lead High Grange with new skills and tips that will elevate your game every time you cook as well as a goodie bag and full belly!
June Events at High Grange
The Sacred Pause With Rebecca Baker - 4th June 10am-1pm
A half-day retreat with breathwork practitioner, mentor and reiki master Rebecca Baker to spend time in the woods, connecting to how you are feeling, doing a breathwork session and finding time to pause and rest.
Fire Supper - Wednesday 7th June 7-11pm
High Grange's informal suppers, but with the same structure, attention to detail and quality as their Signature feasts. You will be served two or three courses in the theme of whatever Luke has chosen and enjoy eating, drinking and laughing around our beautiful oak dining table. Menus will be released a week or so before the event.

Back-to-back Full Day Fire schools following a request from a lovely customer! Two full days of sunny eating and drinking, and learning all these is to know about outdoor cooking. Note that the July full day fire school is sold out so this would be your last chance to cook all day with us until the end of August.
Soulshine Takeover Fire Supper at High Grange - Wednesday 14th June 7-11pm
Luke has a brilliant evening cooking at Soulshine in Bridport last week, and Andy and Joel are doing the return match at High Grange, doing a Fire Supper in their brilliant Bridport style.
Your Subconscious Mind & Hypnosis with Jenny Lidster - Friday 16th June 10-11.30am
Jenny is a qualified hypnotherapist and EMDR therapist and the session will involve a gentle guided hypnotic journey to give you the boost you may be looking for, by helping you release any negative emotions or limiting beliefs which are adding to those feelings of stress and overwhelm.
Feast Night - Cocktail & Seasonal 5 Course Tasting Menu - Friday 16th June 7-11pm
High Grange's signature tasting menu feast night. On the cusp of the Summer, this will be glorious, the veg patch overflowing, it will be filled with the best seasonal fruit, veg, and local meat and Lyme Bay fish, as well as their signature Summer cocktail, drunk by the woodland bar as the sun sets.
Fire Supper - Wednesday 21st June 7-11pm
Another informal supper with the menu to be announced a few days beforehand. This will also be full of Summer’s larder!
Tapas Masterclass & Paella Lunch with the Strawberry Tree - Friday 23rd June 11am - 3pm
A special tapas masterclass, cookery demonstration and paella lunch at High Grange with Gibraltan-born Gisella and Ed from the Strawberry Tree, a tapas restaurant in Lyme Regis. Luke will be chatting to Gisella about her background and cooking style, there will be a demo and tasting of the best of Spanish tapas, then we’ll sit you down for a delicious paella lunch and Spanish pudding. Part masterclass, part demo, part tasting, part feast, and a lovely Rioja-filled day out.
Nourish ... at High Grange, Saturday 24th June 9.30-5.30pm
The first ever escape (retreat) at High Grange, inviting both men and women to spend a full day in the lovely woods. There will be a long 90 minute vinyasa yoga class with Ella McConnell, the chance to harvest veggies and watch a cooking demo with Luke and sit down for a delicious lunch, then make a chutney or piccalilli to take home. Finally, you’ll do a breathwork session with Natalie Vallely and rest round the fire pit before heading home relaxed and restored.
